CONGRATULATIONS - WEST MALL ALUMNI CASEY CIZIKAS SELECTED TO 2010/2011 CANADIAN JUNIOR HOCKEY TEAM

West Mall Minor Hockey Association would like to congratulate 19 year old Mississauga resident, Casey Cizikas who was selected to play for the 2010/2011 Canadian Junior Hockey team and represent Canada in the 2011 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships being played in Buffalo between December 26, 2010 and January 5, 2011.  Casey's brother Keegan currently plays for the West Mall Bantam AA team coached by Blair Payne.

Casey began is hockey career in the mid 1990s as a 3 year old member of the West Mall Mites - Learn to Play Hockey program (see picture) and from there went on to play select with the 1998/99 West Mall Tyke Select team (see picture) coached by long time West Mall coach, Ron Sticklee before eventually moving to play GTHL AAA with Mississauga Reps and the Missisauga Ice Dogs. In his Minor Midget AAA year with the IceDogs, Casey had 106 points in 77 games.  

Currently, Casey plays with and is captain of the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors OHL Junior A team where he was drafted 3^rd overall in the 1^st round. The St. Michael’s Majors are coached by Dave Cameron who is from PEI is also the coach of the Canadian Junior Hockey team. He scored his first OHL goal on Oct 2, 2007 and he finished the 07-08 season ranked 10th in rookie scoring with 41 points.  Casey also played on Canada’s 2008 gold medal winning Under-18 team.  Casey was drafted by the New York Islanders in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
